This simple tutorial requires no cutting or sewing. Hankies are perfect as they are 100% cotton, washable and allow for good breathability. A smaller bandana mask will also work appropriately. However a smaller handkerchief between 12-14″ can be used for women, teens and children. Once complete, this DIY face mask can be worn by both men and women. Conversely, you can also create a face mask using a bandana or similarly shaped cloth, though a bandana mask is about as effective as one made from a hankie. Given these recommendations, I have typed up simple instructions on how to make your own no sew DIY face mask using a simple mens handkerchief and some hair ties. Yes, a no-sew face mask will provide additional levels of protection to you and to those around you, but it’s even better to stay socially distant. You still need to “shelter in place” and only go out when absolutely necessary. This does not mean that you can now go out and socialize while wearing a face mask. Even the best fabric mask isn’t foolproof, but it’s much better than being unprotected!
