Sibelius flip stem5/7/2023 ![]() Like they said above, showing/hiding accidentals is a simple keyboard shortcut. I thought you were using it on the quarters. ![]() It's the only tool out of that palette I've ever needed to use.ĮDIT: This tool will look strange if you use it on the eighth notes. You may or may not find it easier and/or more logical (from a music entry perspective) than doing the same thing with layers.Īnyway, it lets you create double or split stems on an individual chord in a single layer. It has a weird interface that I don't quite get the logic of, but you can figure it out pretty quickly with a little experimentation. It's in the Special Tools palette, which you can get to from the Advanced Tools palette or from the Window menu. Or layers 3 & 4 with hidden items (rests, accidentals, stems, whatever)? Have you tried using the double/split stem tool? Tobias Giesen's plugins, full version, Robert Patterson plugins, Dolet 5 plugin Nobody in their right mind would do the latter why do so many people try to do the former? Trying to notate full-blown music in Finale (or any other music notation program) with only a minimal command of the software would be like agreeing to play a Beethoven piano concerto in a concert when you've been taking lessons for 6 months. The advice about spending the time doing the tutorials and watching the videos is well-meant and very important. Careful also about confusing ties with slurs (like in the second measure of your example where the A in beat 3 shouldn't have a tie at all, since it's followed by a C). Running the cautionary accidentals plugin usually takes care of any extra accidentals you might need, also between layers. In your example you still need to change the tie direction of the G natural whole note which wouldn't have been necessary had you entered it in layer 1. ![]() You've put the notes in your example in illogical layers, meaning you either have to change the directions of the stems and ties by hand, or you have to change the defaults in Document Options/Layers. Morphus, using layers is quite easy but you really need to develop good habits from the beginning when learning to use a program like Finale (or Sibelius or, for that matter, when learning to play an instrument).
